Regional Trade and Investment Agreements (RTA) are increasingly being used to promote international integration and economic growth. This has taken on particular importance, as world trade has slowed down in the wake of the 2008 global financial crisis: in 1990, there were 22 bilateral and regional RTRs, which rose to more than 270 in 2016, as shown in Figure 1 [1, 2]. Two major ATRs are at the heart of the latest negotiations: the Trans-Pacific Partnership between the United States and 11 Pacific countries, signed in February 2016; and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership between the United States and the European Union (EU) signed in October 2016 . These ATRs aim both to facilitate trade and to remove barriers to investment. B, for example, by creating investor protection and allowing private companies to participate in public procurement . The current framework conditions of international law governing trade and economic development need to be radically changed in terms of contractual processes, content and contexts in order to better achieve public health objectives.
