Why YouTube No Longer Buffers the Entire Video?
Now YouTube is using the new protocol called DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP). Because of this change, YouTube video only buffers a small amount (only 30 seconds of pre-buffer) and this results in interrupted playback.
How we used to watch YouTube Videos?
Earlier on the slow connection we used to pause the video until it buffers enough thus to get smooth playback. But Now because of the DASH playback YouTube does not allow to buffer entire video in order to save bandwidth. Now YouTube offers only 30 seconds of Pre-Buffering whether the video is running or paused no matter.
How to Force YouTube to Buffer Entire Video
Thanks to a browser add-on called SmartVideo For YouTube. Using this add-on we can disable the DASH playback and force YouTube to buffer the entire video.
